Day 7: 1 method a day

Celebrating Facilitation Week 2026 (2 – 8 Feb)

My biggest struggle was closures.

The mind got tensed with these challenges:

·      Close on time so we can all travel back home (esp. with flights)

·       HR / L&D Partner / Manager wants to also speak.

·       Action Planning sheets to be filled in and handed over (if org. wants it)

·       Feedback form – written or online (if org. wants it)

To close a training or a facilitation with a high-energy closure that is not for fun only, but integrates fun with learnings, actions and impact, became distant with the challenges. And therefore, in the speed of things, the closures moved many a times to getting the formal bits done (i.e. sheets and forms) so closures were quick and not impactful.

How do I get closures done with impact?

‘Impact’ meant - remember the actions and commitments by using the learnings back in the organisation. Now for certain cultures, like ours, remembrance comes from proclamation as this creates affirmation and the brain keeps it in memory and help apply it.

Writing on sheets whether on their workbook or handed-over to HR, still didn’t bring recall and thus application. So I knew that, saying it aloud also makes other senses get involved, nudges one to remember and thus apply.

However, no catalyst tools were easily available here in India.

So, we created Talk’le balls (kid sized actual footballs with 12-faces) with 12-prompts.

Now, I make the group stand in a circle, explain how Apply Talk’le activity works, throw the ball to one, the person catches and whichever prompt (question) is on the top facing them – they answer (proclaim) to the group, and then throw it to another. Even if the same question comes up for another- that’s fine, they still share. Sometimes one doesn’t want to answer a particular question, then they turn the ball a bit and answer another prompt that pops up at them.

If the group is large, I carry additional Talk’les (same category) and on the tables, ask them to roll the balls to one another and share.

Fun, Share and remember your actions! Application is the key!

While the above Apply Talk’le works for closures, we have also created 4 other categories of these talk’les that can be used at any point of time in one’s trainings, workshops or sessions.

A Leader or Manager can also use these in their meetings – just look at the engagement scores sky rocket if used once-a-month in tense meetings

The 5 Talk’les:

o   Apply back (red) – captures learnings and actions at the closure.

o   Leader Me (yellow) – invites sharing’s on past, present and future leadership journey.

o   Visionary (green) –looking from a future perspective in organisational space.

o   Deeper Me (black) – the questions make one deeply think about themselves and their journeys… and sharing them in a safe space

o   Inspirational (white)– laced with quotes from accomplished people, one reads it and creates meaning of the quote in their own life.
