𝔽𝕠𝕔𝕦𝕤: 𝔽𝕝𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣 & ℙ𝕖𝕥𝕒𝕝 𝕖𝕩𝕖𝕣𝕔𝕚𝕤𝕖

𝟭 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 / 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 / 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆! 
𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬 2026 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯!

One of the most profound yet simplistic facilitation method is the "𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 & 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹" exercise.

I have used it in most sessions I have facilitated since many years. I use it in the beginning of the session to capture expectations of individuals and then facilitate a convergence in small teams and then in the large group.

One can use at any point of time as per the design and it can go beautifully at the closure of the workshop or as one FSW (Facilitation Skills Workshop) trainer-moving-to-facilitator of a Insurance Co. shared in a follow-up session - they used it to capture the present understanding of a product to see why miss-selling was happening.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲? (for expectations mapping as an eg)

- Invite the participants to make small table-teams.

- Hand over a blank chart paper to each team.

- Show on white-board the image of how the template looks (see attached image). One could also give a templatised chart-paper.

- Ask them to write individually (without discussion) their list of expectations inside the petal they have identified.

- After around 5 to 7 mins, ask them to share & discuss their expectations in their table-teams and in the centre-core write down the common expectations. Give time for discussion to close.

- Invite each team to voice-out loud what they have written in the centre. I prefer asking each team to share one-by-one in a round-robin so that I encourage diverse voices opening up. Listen intently for your alignment.

- Check if anyone wants to further add - be careful that it doesn't get into a spiral as the sharing should be something that was shared in the table-teams.

- Ask them to put up their charts on the walls of the rooms (provide paper-tape / bluetac so the walls aren't damaged)
